The Citation VI was the first upgraded version of Cessna’s Citation III. It was built for speed and lower costs, utilizing the same basic cabin as the Citation III but with no customized interiors available.

The cabin of the Citation VI holds eight passengers comfortably in a standard double club layout. The aircraft’s compliance with FAR part 36 noise standards means that the cabin is relatively quiet in flight. Two Honeywell TFE731-3B-100S engines and a body designed with lightweight composites and smoothly-joined metal surfaces where necessary give the Citation VI a maximum speed of 459 knots (528 mph). The aircraft uses trailing link landing gear for comfortable landings.

The Citation VI has a standard Honeywell digital SPZ-8000 flight control system. To reduce cost and weight, Cessna equipped the cockpit with an analog autopilot instead of the digital version in the Citation III.
