|
The Sino-Swearingen SJ30-2 is manufactured by the Emivest Aerospace Corporation. It is one of the fastest and furthest-flying aircraft in the light jet category, flying at speeds up to 560 mph between almost any two cities in the U.S., and between several intercontinental destinations. Another perk adding to these excellent stats is the SJ30-2’s superb fuel efficiency. At high speeds, fuel burn is just over 100 gallons per hour, compared to 190 gallons per hour average for most light jets.
The power behind the SJ30-2’s range and speed comes from the two Williams International FJ44-2A turbofan engines. These light engines are made more fuel efficient under the partial control of two Electronic Control Units ( ECUs) which, like the FADEC (Full Authority Digital Electronics Control), distribute fuel, automatically limit takeoff thrust, and schedule climb and cruise thrust levels. Should the ECUs fail, the system reverts to backup hydromechanical fuel control.
Other structural design elements of the SJ30-2 include an innovative, sweptback wing, which provide smoother flight and higher fuel efficiency, a stretched cabin, and 53 cubic feet of luggage space.The SJ30-2’s cabin seats four in club configuration with shared fold-out tables. The side-facing lavatory offers a fifth belted seat. A single pilot may fly the plane, leaving the second seat on the flight deck available for a sixth passenger. The cabin features an Iridium satellite communication phone, extra-wide seats (2 of which are reclinable), dual-zone environmental control, and 110V power outlets. |
